UGC ad examples, broken down so you can make your own

Updated

UGC ads look like a person talking to their phone about something they use. That is the whole trick: they borrow the look of a recommendation from a friend instead of a polished commercial. The best way to learn the format is to take examples apart. Below are six UGC ad scripts, written for this guide, each for a different kind of business, with notes on why each line is there. Then a short section on making one yourself.

What every good UGC ad has

  • A hook in the first two seconds. A problem the viewer recognises, said the way they would say it.
  • One thing shown working. Not a feature list. One moment where the product does its job.
  • A person talking to camera. Phone-held framing, natural speech, no studio look.
  • Captions burned in. Many people watch with the sound off, so the words have to be on screen.
  • One ask at the end. Download, order, book. One action.
  • Under 30 seconds. Most UGC ads run 15 to 30 seconds. About 70 to 80 spoken words fill 30.

Six UGC ad examples

Each script runs about 25 to 30 seconds read aloud. Swap in your own product and keep the shape.

BusinessHook (0 to 5s)Demo (5 to 22s)Ask (22 to 30s)
Budgeting app"I had no idea where my money went every month. None.""Then I tried this. I link my card, and it sorts every purchase for me. Look, coffee alone was ninety dollars.""It's free to try. Link's below."
Skincare product"If your skin feels tight by lunchtime, listen.""This is the only moisturiser I've stuck with. Two pumps in the morning, and it's still soft at five.""Tap the link, they're doing a starter size."
Local café"Best cold brew in the neighbourhood, and I've tried them all.""They steep it for a full day. You can taste it. And the oat milk doesn't water it down.""Corner of Fifth and Main. Go before ten, there's a line after."
Online course"I spent a year watching free videos and still couldn't edit.""This course is twelve short lessons. By lesson four I'd cut my first real video.""First lesson's free. Link below."
Home cleaning service"Weekends are for living, not scrubbing the bathroom.""I book on my phone, they come Friday, I come home to this.""New customers get the first clean discounted. Book through the link."
Fitness app"I never know what to do when I walk into the gym.""This app gives me the plan for the day. I tap through it set by set.""Try it free this week. It's in the App Store."

Why these examples work

The hook is the viewer's words. "I had no idea where my money went" is a sentence someone has thought. "Smart AI budgeting" is not. Write the hook from the customer's side.

The product appears early. In each script, the product is on screen or named by second seven. A viewer who leaves at eight seconds still knows what they saw.

The demo is one moment. Ninety dollars on coffee, soft skin at five, a clean bathroom on Friday. One concrete result beats five features.

The ask is specific. "Link's below", "go before ten", "first lesson's free". The viewer knows exactly what to do next.

Real creator, AI presenter, or your own phone

There are three ways to produce one of these scripts. A real creator films your product in their home; you ship them the item and pay per video. You can film it yourself on your phone. Or an AI presenter delivers the script, with your product shown in photos or a screen recording.

An AI presenter is the fastest route and doesn't need a product shipped or a face on camera from you. It also isn't a real customer, so don't present it as a testimonial. For a ranked look at the tools that make AI UGC ads, see the AI UGC ad generator comparison.

Make a UGC ad on your iPhone with Vidpop

Vidpop makes UGC video ads on its Pro plan: one video a week plus one redo. It writes the script in the hook, demo and ask shape above, an AI presenter delivers it, and it adds burned-in captions, licensed background music and an end card. Videos are vertical, 720x1280, up to 30 seconds, in English or Arabic.

  1. 01Get your material ready. For an app, a screen recording you make yourself. For a physical product, up to 4 photos; Vidpop turns them into an 8-second product clip.
  2. 02Install Vidpop (iPhone, iOS 17 or later) and choose the Pro plan.
  3. 03Pick the language, the presenter and the voice: 10 English voices and 7 Arabic ones.
  4. 04Read the script and fix the hook first. It is the line most worth your time.
  5. 05Start the render. It takes about nine minutes.
  6. 06Watch it once on mute. If the captions don't carry the message alone, change the script in the edit chat.
  7. 07Post it with Post for Me to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or a LinkedIn company Page, now or on a schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What is a UGC ad?
A short video ad made to look like user-generated content: a person talking to camera, often phone-held, recommending a product the way a friend would. It can be filmed by a real creator, by you, or delivered by an AI presenter.
How long should a UGC ad be?
Usually 15 to 30 seconds. Thirty seconds holds about 70 to 80 spoken words, enough for a hook, one demonstration and one ask. Vidpop's UGC videos are capped at 30 seconds.
Can I use these UGC ad examples as scripts?
Yes. They were written for this guide to show the shape. Replace the product, the result and the ask with your own, and keep each line short enough to say in one breath.
How do I make UGC videos without creators?
Film it yourself on your phone, or use an AI presenter. Vidpop's Pro plan writes the script, has an AI presenter deliver it, and adds captions, music and an end card in one vertical video.
Are AI UGC ads honest?
They are fine as ads as long as they don't pretend to be real customer reviews. An AI presenter is a presenter, not a customer, so avoid wording like "I'm a real customer".
Does Vidpop make UGC ads in Arabic?
Yes. Scripts, voiceovers and captions can be in Arabic, with 7 Arabic voices in Saudi, Kuwaiti, Omani and Egyptian accents. UGC video is on the Pro plan.
Which Vidpop plan includes UGC video?
Pro only: $16.99 a week or $59.99 a month on the US App Store, with 1 UGC video a week plus 1 redo. Starter has no video.
