A social media content calendar app that fills the week for you
Updated
Every content calendar looks good on the day you set it up. Seven empty boxes a week, colour-coded by network. The trouble starts in week three, when the boxes are still empty because filling them was always the hard part. Most content calendar apps are a place to put posts. Vidpop is an iPhone app whose calendar fills itself: it plans the week around your business, makes the posts and publishes them on schedule.
Three kinds of content calendar
"Content calendar" covers three quite different tools. Knowing which one you need saves a month of trying the wrong one.
| Spreadsheet or template | Scheduler's calendar | AI content calendar (Vidpop) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who picks the topics | You | You | Planned around your business, steered by your notes |
| Who makes the posts | You, in another app | You, or a design tool | Designed carousels with captions |
| Who posts them | You, by hand | The scheduler | Post for Me, on schedule |
| Your weekly time | Planning, making and posting | Making and loading | Reviewing, if you want to |
How Vidpop's calendar works
You start by telling Vidpop about your business with your website, your App Store page, or six short questions and a few photos.
Autopilot then fills each week with three carousels. Each has 5 to 7 slides at 1080x1350 and a caption, and the formats rotate between eight types, including tips, myth vs fact, steps, FAQ and before-and-after. Post for Me publishes them to Instagram, Facebook and a LinkedIn company Page you manage at the scheduled time.
You can work the calendar like any other. Open a post to edit its caption, re-make it, or undo to the previous version. Leave a note to steer next week, keep or pass on post ideas, and ask for more posts like one you liked. Changes are allowed up to 15 minutes before a post goes out.
Need something the plan didn't include, like a holiday closing or a new product? Create with AI makes a caption, image post or carousel from a short description, and you can post it now or schedule it.
Plan a month of content in four steps
Whether or not you use an app, a working calendar comes from a few decisions you make once.
- 01Pick a pace you can keep. Three posts a week, every week, beats seven a week for a fortnight. Choose fixed days.
- 02Choose your formats. Tips, myth vs fact, steps, FAQ and before-and-after work for almost any business. Each week, pick a format first and the topic second.
- 03Mark the dates that matter. Holidays, launches, seasonal offers and closures. Put them in before the regular posts.
- 04Leave one slot open. News and good ideas turn up mid-week. A calendar with no room for them gets ignored.
Approval: you choose how hands-off
- "Ask me first" on. Nothing goes out until you approve it. Good for the first weeks, or for a business where every word needs a second look.
- "Ask me first" off. Autopilot posts at the scheduled time without waiting. You can still change anything up to 15 minutes before it goes out.
- Your first week always waits for your approval, whichever setting you choose.
Where it stops
Vidpop is an iPhone app that needs iOS 17 or later, with no Android, web or iPad-native version. Carousels and posts are written in English for now; Arabic is available for videos.
Post for Me publishes to Instagram (Business or Creator account), Facebook Pages, LinkedIn company Pages and TikTok. TikTok takes video posts, so carousels go to the other three.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a social media content calendar?
- A schedule of what you will post, where and when. It can be a spreadsheet, a scheduler's calendar view, or an app like Vidpop that plans the posts, makes them and publishes them for you.

- Yes. Vidpop's Autopilot plans three carousels a week around your business, designs them, writes the captions and posts them to Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn on schedule.
- How many posts a week should my calendar have?
- As many as you can keep up for months. Three a week is a sensible default for a small business, and it is the number Autopilot plans.
- Can I add my own posts to Vidpop's calendar?

- Can I change what Vidpop plans?

- Starter is $8.99 a week or $29.99 a month with a 3-day free trial. Pro is $16.99 a week or $59.99 a month and adds a weekly UGC video ad. These are US App Store prices.
