6 best Captions AI alternatives in 2026
Updated
The best Captions AI alternative for making video ads without filming yourself is Vidpop. You give it a screen recording of your app or a few product photos, and it hands back a finished vertical ad with an AI presenter, voiceover, captions and music, on your iPhone. If you want a free editor for footage you film yourself, CapCut is the closer match. Here are six options and where each one beats Vidpop.
What Captions is, and why people switch
Captions is an AI video editor for iPhone, Android and the web. It adds automatic captions, edits your footage with AI, translates into 100+ languages and can make an AI twin of you. Its company renamed itself Mirage, and its site says Mirage Studio has now merged into Captions (checked October 2026). The iPhone app, Captions: AI Edits Your Video, is rated 4.7 from 38,510 ratings on the US App Store.
Its pricing page lists iOS prices: a free version with basic editing and no AI credits, Max at $24.99 a month for 500 credits, and Frontier from $69.99 a month for 1,400 credits (checked October 2026).
- It starts from your own footage. Captions is at its best when you have already filmed something. If you do not want to be on camera, you need a different starting point.
- AI features run on credits. The free version has no AI credits, and the AI tools draw from a monthly credit balance.
- An edited clip is not yet an ad. You still decide the hook, the script and the call to action.
- It does not keep your accounts posting. Captions does not list planning or publishing posts to your social accounts.

1. Vidpop: best for ads when you do not want to film
Captions makes your footage better. Vidpop makes the ad without your footage. For an app, you give it a screen recording you made yourself. For a physical product, you give it up to 4 photos. Vidpop writes the script, has an AI presenter deliver it, and adds a voiceover, burned-in captions, licensed background music and an end card. It takes about nine minutes, and the result is 720x1280, 9:16, up to 30 seconds.
After that, the edit chat changes the music, voice, presenter, captions or script. Autopilot also plans 3 carousels a week for your business, and Post for Me publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok. Videos can be in English or Arabic, and the Arabic captions join up and read right to left.
Who it fits: a founder or small business that wants a ready ad and regular posts from a phone. Honest limits: it is not a general video editor, so you cannot cut your own long footage in it. UGC video is on Pro only, with 1 video a week plus 1 redo. There are 11 presenters and no custom avatar of you. It is iPhone only, with no web or Android app. See UGC video ads.
2. CapCut: best free editor for your own footage
CapCut, from ByteDance, is the closest match to Captions if you film yourself. It runs on desktop, the web, iPhone and Android, with templates, AI tools and an AI avatar generator. The free plan covers basic editing. Its pricing page shows Pro at $18.99 a month or $159.99 a year, and says to sign in for final prices (checked October 2026). The iPhone app is rated 4.6 from over 1.1 million ratings.
Who it fits: you shoot your own videos and want full control of the edit. Honest limits: you do the creative work: script, hook, cuts and captions style. It does not write the ad for you or post on a schedule.
3. HeyGen: best for an AI twin of yourself
If you use Captions for its AI twin, HeyGen is the strongest alternative. It builds custom avatars, lists 700+ stock avatars and 1,000+ voices on paid plans, and makes videos up to 30 minutes on Creator. It has a web studio, an iOS app and an API. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed annually. The free plan makes 3 videos a month, up to 1 minute.
Who it fits: your own face matters to your brand. Honest limits: you get an avatar video, not a finished ad, so music, product footage and an end card are up to you. See the HeyGen alternative page.
4. Creatify: best for many ad variations
Creatify makes avatar video ads from a product URL and creates many versions at once. It can push ads into Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Snap and Amazon ad accounts. Standard is $15 a month, or $12 billed annually, for 55 credits. The free plan has 10 credits a month with a watermark.
Who it fits: you run paid ads and test many creatives. Honest limits: it is web only, with no official iPhone app, and credits decide how many videos you get. See the Creatify alternative page.
5. MakeUGC: best for many languages
MakeUGC makes UGC-style ads with AI actors who can hold your product. It lists 50+ languages on every plan, 300+ actors on Starter and 1,000+ on Pro. Starter is $29 a month billed yearly, and any plan can be tried for $1.
Who it fits: you sell in many countries and want AI actor ads on the web. Honest limits: the shown prices are yearly billing, Starter exports at up to 720p, and we found no iPhone app. See our MakeUGC alternatives.
6. Vmake: best for cleaning up footage
Vmake is an AI toolkit on the web, iPhone and Android: caption generator, upscaler, background remover, video translator and more. The free plan gives 20 credits a day. Its website shows no dollar prices; the App Store lists Plus at $9.99 and Pro at $29.99 as in-app purchases (September 2026).
Who it fits: you have footage that needs captions, upscaling or translation. Honest limits: its subtitle page does not list Arabic, and you build the ad yourself. See the Vmake alternative page.

- Does Vidpop add captions to videos?
